Nischa Pieris

pierisPieris is a researcher and analyst at the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM) in the areas of drug policy and gender mainstreaming. Previously she served as a consultant with the Inter-American Commission for the Control of Drug Abuse (CICAD) and has worked with different countries in the Americas to implement programs that promote alternatives to incarceration for drug-related crimes. She was director of Kids Company, a foundation that protects children in London, and worked directly with young people affected by gang violence and socio-economic disadvantage. She earned a degree in modern languages from Cambridge University and a Master’s in Latin American Studies at University College London. She is the author of the recent publication of CIM/OAS: “Women and Drugs in the Americas: A policy working paper.”
