Corporación Acción Técnica Social (ATS) is a nonprofit entity created in April 2008, consists of an outstanding group of experts and professionals in the areas of population research, design, development of public policies and social programs, who through their contribution reaches to implement patterns of better and higher opportunities for vulnerable population groups in Colombia.

Its institutional vision is to guide the improvement of quality of life for different populations, through action and intervention in communities and territories, according to their particular conditions.

With an innovative methodology that starts by a context reading, the participation and combination of community networks, peers, community, and institutional actors; it has achieved to imprint a renovating stamp to the way the phenomenon of consumption of Psychoactive Substances has been being addressed in Colombia and Latin America. Most of its projects have been pilot schemes that today are replicated in several departments, as in the case of “Prevention in Young Hands: peer training module for the prevention and mitigation SPA consumption (2009) and “Heroin: Pilot communication Strategy for the prevention and mitigation of consumption in the coffee axis (Caldas and Risaralda) and Santander de Quilichao (Cauca) with regional impact and national projection”.

Its implication on the drug issue in Colombia has been close to the construction and implementation of the National Policy for the reduction of consumption of SPA and its impact (2007) and the recently published Policy of prevention on SPA consumption of Bogotá. During the last election campaign  all the exhibited proposals of the candidates at the Candidates Forum, held in August 2011 in partnership with the mastery of cultural studies at the Universidad Javeriana, were discussed and critically studied. ATS is in charge of promoting the newly formed Colombian Platform for the Reform of Drug Policies, as a joint exercise of this Colombian issue to the globe, it develops projects in different areas of the country, and internationally its partnerships and dialogue with Energy Control (Award European prevention), ASUD, IHRA, SPSS, and Intercambios among others, which allow them to contribute decisively in a paradigm shift, that allows to contribute with the reform of the Drug policies, in which we are today.
