Julieta Lemaitre is an Associate professor at the Universidad de los Andes Law School, where she teaches sociology of law, theory of law and constitution and democracy. She is a lawyer with expertise in religion and gender (NYU) and JD from Harvard University. Studies the daily law application in Latin America. Her research areas are law and violence, law and social movements, and sexual and reproductive rights. Member of the Academic Council of the Center for Safety and Drugs Studies at the Universidad de los Andes. She writes a blog at Silla Vacía called Desde el jardín, and from there supports more sensible solutions that prohibition. Her latest book is entitled La paz en cuestión: la guerra y la paz en la Asamblea Constituyente de 1991 (UAndes 2011); and traces the relation between the extradition prohibition and the reduction of violence in Colombia.
