El Dorado Airport Provides shuttle bus service that connects the Puente Aéreo terminal to the El Dorado International Terminal. This service is free and the journey takes Between 5 and 8 minutes

Airport terminal attached to the Dorado International Airport. Counts with spacious access routes, in which operates domestic flights of the Summa Alliance (Avianca and Sam) in six (6) destinations, and the same number of points of departure: Cali, Medellin, Barranquilla, Cartagena, Pereira and Barrancabermeja.

Both terminals provide complementary services such as:

*There are several places where you can purchase phone cards and make calls. On the second floor next to the National airport dock at the public area, there are Orbitel booths, as into the National and International docks. Also, inside the Terminal, payphones are located in 10 strategic areas of the terminal from which you can make local calls to mobiles, national and international calls, with Colombian currency or prepaid cards.

Transportation in town

The three main types of transportation in Bogotá are taxis, buses and theTransmilenio. This last one is a bus system with exclusive lane stations that are monitored, in the main avenues of the city. Counts with articulated vehicles of Transmilenio that run through most of the city through 9 lanes. The service operates 24 hours a day and, depending on the route, starts and ends at a certain time. The bus ticket is paid at the stations or recharging a smart card.

Safety in taxis

Taking a taxi in the street is usually not a problem, but you should be careful to avoid inconveniences.

Each taxi must keep visible the driver information and fee schedule. Make sure the taximeter is running.

The hotels use white taxis that are of good quality and service. Drivers often speak some English, but rates may be more expensive. Keep in mind, that white taxis don´t use taximeters, yellows do.

It is always preferable to request the service of a reliable taxi company so that it sends a safe vehicle.

The operator or computer system will indicate the number plate of the vehicle. The driver will ask you the last two digits of the phone number from which you called, this key is essential to make use of the service.

Foreign currency exchange

Colombia’s official currency is the peso ($), issued by the Central Bank of Colombia. Paper money is issued in denominations of $ 1,000, $ 2,000, $ 5,000, $ 10,000, $ 20,000 and $ 50,000, and coins in circulation are $ 50, $ 100, $ 200 and $ 500.

We recommend making the exchange of foreign currency exclusively in exchange bureaus, airports, hotels and banks, never on the street. The exchange rate fluctuates daily and the official reference is the U.S. dollar. The settlement is based on the official rate of the day, after discounting commissions and services between 2 and 3%.
