Antonio Mazzitelli. Mexican Representative at the United Nations Office against Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
He was named Regional Representative of the United Nations Office against Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean in September 2009.
He possesses a Law degree with Honorific Mention from the University of Bologna. From 1992 to 1993, he worked as the Programs Official for the Regional Section of Africa in the United Nations International Drug Control Program (UNDCP). Following this, he was the Director of UNDCP in Lagos, Nigeria until 1996. Subsequently, he was named the Adjunct Representative at the UNDCP Office in Santa Fé de Bogotá, Colombia where he worked until 1999.
Between 1999 and 2003, he worked as a Representative of UNODC in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran, where he strongly supported the Iranian Anti-Drug Strategy as well as HIV/AIDS prevention initiatives among the high risk population. From September to December 2002, he served as the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System (UNS) of Iran.
From 2004 to 2009, Mr. Mazzitelli was put in charge of the Regoinal Representation of UNODC for Central and Western Africa in Dakar, Senegal.
