Laura Guzmán. Director and founder of the Mission Resources Center, in the Latino district of San Francisco.  Member of the Coalition for Hard Reduction.

She is a professional in health and administration as well as a social justice worker with 18 years of experience in the area of support for drug users through models including harm reduction, homeless people, immigrant communities, and people living with HIV in Northern California.

Since 1999 she has been managing training and technical assistance for governmental and non-governmental organizations that work with drug users, homeless people, and residents of subsidized living on the West Coast as well as the rest of the U.S.

She participated in the first workshops for the Harm Reduction Coalition in San Francisco in 1995 and presented workshops and panels at numerous annual conferences such as the National Harm Reduction Conference, National AIDS Update Conference, and the Health Care for the Homeless Conference

She is also the Co-President of the Coordinating Council of Policies and Services for Abandoned Persons of San Francisco since 2006, the ex-President of the Coalition Board Homeless of San Francisco, and a member of the Directive Board for the Harm Reduction Therapy Center.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she emigrated to the U.S. in 1985.  She has a J.D. from the New College of California School of Law (1995) and a Bachelor’s in Linguistics from the University of California-Berkeley (1992).
