For various reasons, Rio is the capital of tourism in Brazil. Rio is the second largest city in Brazil. It is located in the Southeast region of Brazil, with six million habitants, an area of 1.224,56 km², an extensive coast of 246, 22 km² and a green area of 325,6 km².

It is a mosaic of diverse charms between the ocean and the mountains. There are many attractions and sites within Rio. The statue of Christ Redeemer has been named one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Rio also has the Pão de Açúcar, a spectacular mountain view of Rio. There are innumerable other tourist points, including the Estádio do Maracanã, the main soccer stadium to the 5 time world champion soccer team. The carnivals of Brazil are the most awaited among visitors; the samba dancing and music are renowned to be the most spectacular festivals in the world. Most recently, the Cidade do Samba was constructed. It contains samba schools and samba costume factories, and has daily activities and shows.

Rio was chosen, after many surveys, as the city with the friendliest people in the world. Rio is a city which one will surely fall in love with for its food, music, entertainment, art, culture and its beautiful outdoors. It is one of the densest cities in the world where rainforest, mountains, and beaches come together. Rio is historical, cultural, and nocturnal; it is a city for people of all ages. The spirit of Rio can be represented in the statue of Christ the Redeemer, with his open arms to receive visitors.

After two successful games in the Pan-American Games of 2007, Rio was recently elected as the location for the Summer Olympics in 2016. This triumph means the first Olympic Games in South America!
